Tuesday, January 15, 2008: The Least Relaxing Restaurant |
Return to Journal TOC >> |
We’re lured in by what looks like the most soothing of all - an Asian restaurant and bar with futons and cushions up against low tables, so couples can recline under coconut palms, snuggle, and look at the water together. (Yeah, sitting under coconut palms is potentially lethal, but we didn’t see any unpicked coconuts on the one above us.) After a while they brought Ro’s drink, but got it wrong. Mine never arrived. Neither did the water. The waiter showed up once, but never came back for our order. After about twenty minutes of trying to attract someone we finally get up to leave, at which point they not only aren’t apologetic, but surly - insisting we have to pay for the drink which still hasn’t arrived (or presumably been made). We politely decline.
He chases us down the path halfheartedly for a while before giving up.
